Production
fee
The production fee is also often referred to as the photography
or creative fee. Simply stated, it is the cost to the client for my
photographic services to shoot your project.
It takes into account my experience, creativity and professionalism.
This is my salary minus my overhead costs.
This
fee also takes into account my non-billable
time and administrative costs. The production
fee is calculated from the information you supply me about your project.
To fairly and accurately provide you an estimate for your project, I
have provided a list of questions for the client
which I need in order to research a fair price. By being able to
provide the answers to the questions, I can quote you an accurate estimate
of the cost for your project.
The production fee is separate from the usage fee
and expenses. Any changes or additions to
the assignment must be presented
in writing and approved by both Tim Boyd Photography
and the clients authorized representative/project manager. Such
changes will often incur additional charges.

T
Estimating
the cost of a project based solely on time is not fair to either the
client or photographer. Furthermore, a client for a small business would
not want, or be expected, to pay the same rate as a large multinational
corporation. Generally, by setting a standard fixed rate for all clients
would overcharge the smaller businesses and undercharge the large companies.
Special circumstances/assignments
The exception to quoting a production fee is for Event
and meeting photography and weddings.
Generally, events and meeting photography is charged on an hourly basis
with a minimum of two hours while weddings are usually charged a flat
photography fee.
